Brushing Shoulders with the Stars
Well, I've gone and done it again.
During a weekend in London with my friends last week, a very glamorous lady stood next to me and I turned to her and told her she looked beautiful. It was only on her saying "thank you"' that I realised this lady was a famous actress who went on to win a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress in 'Killing Eve' later on that day....Fiona Shaw. (She also play's Harry Potter's Aunt which my daughter was far more excited about).
I mentioned in my last mail that a few weeks earlier I had bumped into Maggie Wheeler who played Janice 'Oh my Gaaaawd' from Friends, by the pool at a hotel in Hollywood. She spent an hour chatting with me all about her career. Her key message throughout was that only when she embraced her individuality and authenticity did she get her big break in Friends....she was so lovely and interesting to talk to.
So what can we learn from these two extraordinary meetings? Well, clearly I've got skills in attracting talent!! Granted my skills fall mainly within the software industry but it appears i'm now becoming a magnet to the stars as well ;-).
